About this place
Carried to the table amid curling plumes of vapour, Inkyotei's signature seiro-mushi steamers showcase the natural character of each ingredient in a gentle, comforting style. The sea bream and yuba version arranges delicate sea bream fillets and tofu skin over a bed of mizuna greens, served piping hot with citrusy ponzu for a clean finish. The bamboo-steamer lineup also features combinations such as wagyu beef with Kujo green onions and Iberico pork with mizuna, letting meats and greens concentrate their flavours together simply.
Beyond the steamers, the menu branches out into an array of carefully prepared meat and seafood dishes. Skewered wagyu, grilled tender over the fire, releases the natural sweetness of the beef with accents of savoury miso and fragrant yuzu pepper. Other options suited to a casual drink include wagyu bibimbap tossed in a sweet-and-spicy house sauce, rich sablefish marinated and broiled with Saikyo miso, and luxurious hand rolls topped with salmon roe and sea urchin.
The beverage selection covers standard beers and highballs alongside regional sake, shochu, and fruit-forward sours and liqueurs. Well-known sake labels such as Hakkaisan and Ichinokura make natural partners for fresh seafood, while vibrant citrus sours cut through richer fried dishes and grilled skewers, making it easy to tailor drinks to each course.
Seating includes fully enclosed private rooms and semi-private booths, with convenient touchscreen tablet ordering at each table so groups and intimate parties can settle in comfortably. Situated close to Shinjuku Station's west exit and running from lunchtime through late into the night, the izakaya suits everything from a casual post-work drink to a celebratory gathering on the weekend.
